What We Do

Who Benefits From a Drug Intervention?

People with any kind of substance use disorder can benefit from a drug intervention. With that said, it is essential to have a detailed plan for your drug intervention, and it is important to handle the intervention itself with care. Here are some of the traits that support positive outcomes in drug interventions:

  • The family has a treatment center or program in mind before they stage the intervention. That way, you will be able to express exactly what treatment will look like to your loved one and will be able to give them clear expectations of what they need to do. This also eliminates uncertainty and pressure for your loved one.
  • The family knows what they are going to say. Each family member should have notes regarding what they want to say during the intervention, such as the impacts a person’s substance abuse has had on them or their life.
  • The family has established consequences. Families may need to pre-determine certain consequences that should arise if a loved one does not consent to treatment. Every family member must be prepared to follow through with these consequences.
  • The family should have a group of around six people or less. Ideally, an intervention team should be small so that it does not overwhelm the individual. Choose people that your loved one respects, loves, or depends on.

The Role of New Jersey Drug Interventionists

Our drug interventionists in NJ can help you facilitate an intervention with fewer worries and better chances at a positive outcome. Families work with our drug interventionists both before and during the intervention. Here is how they can help at different stages:

  • Before the intervention, our drug interventionists in NJ can help your family prepare and plan for the intervention. This can help family members or loved ones who will be present at the intervention understand what to expect, how to present information during the intervention, and feel less nervous about the process.
  • During the intervention, our drug interventionists in NJ can guide the discussion and serve as a mediator. It can put you at ease to know that a professional is present. Drug interventionists are trained and experienced. In many cases, drug interventions occur in a drug interventionist’s office because it is a neutral location, unlike one’s home or similar spaces.

After the intervention, our drug interventionists in NJ can discuss the outcome of the intervention with families. Overall, the role of a drug interventionist is to help plan and stage an effective, appropriate, and respectful intervention.

How an Intervention Helps

The goal of an intervention is to get a loved one to attend treatment. It is said that 16.5% of the United States population aged 12+ live with a substance use disorder of some kind, but a whopping 94% do not get help. Unfortunately, substance use disorders are deadly when left untreated and can have a range of other serious consequences. Many people find it challenging to take the leap to find and enter treatment themselves. They may worry about failure or feel that they don’t have a problem. Interventions lead a person to accept help or understand that there will be consequences if they don’t.

When you reach out to an addiction treatment center to coordinate care in preparation for a drug intervention, you can discuss your loved one’s treatment options and what to expect during the process with addiction treatment staff. Treatment can come with an overwhelming array of potential considerations, such as cost. That is why finding a treatment center or program in advance is such an essential part of preparing for an intervention. Make sure that you choose realistic treatment options (e.g., a program that accepts your loved one’s insurance) for your loved one. Our flexible addiction treatment options can help.

What We Do

Getting Treatment at Prevail Recovery Center

Prevail Recovery Center is a fully outpatient treatment center that offers multiple levels of care and accepts most health insurance plans. Here are the programs we offer for those experiencing addictions of any kind. We have dual diagnosis treatment available for clients experiencing both addiction and one or more comorbid mental health conditions, which can apply during any of the following programs. Additionally, we maintain sober living facilities near our outpatient treatment center in New Jersey for those who need a drug and alcohol-free living space.

Detoxification

Getting off of drugs and alcohol can be uncomfortable, and in some cases, dangerous. Detoxification or “detox” is designed to help people get off of drugs and alcohol safely and with less discomfort. We use outpatient detoxification programs to help clients with less severe withdrawal symptoms. If your loved one requires inpatient detox, we can refer you to an inpatient detox center.

Partial hospitalization

Partial hospitalization programs (PHP) are the highest level of care you can get without being in an inpatient program. On a typical day in PHP at Prevail Recovery Center, clients spend most of the day at their treatment facility but return home at night to sleep. Since clients attend PHP for the majority of the day, most days of the week, the time commitment mirrors that of a full-time job. Accordingly, most people don’t work while they’re in PHP. Our partial hospitalization programs involve a combination of different therapies and treatments, including but not limited to regular groups, individual therapy, and family therapy, if applicable.

Intensive outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are less intensive and time-consuming than PHP, but they still offer extensive support. Our IOP clients engage in a combination of groups, individual therapy, and other treatments like those in PHP. The difference is that the amount of therapy required for IOP means that you’ll be in treatment for fewer hours each week. IOP can be ideal for those who need a comprehensive addiction treatment team but cannot commit to PHP. For example, those who are employed or enrolled in college while attending treatment.

Outpatient

Our other outpatient programs are even less intensive than IOP and serve as a step-down form of care. In other words, they help clients maintain sobriety and stay connected to their care team post-treatment, which supports prolonged recovery. Outpatient treatment offerings include but aren’t limited to continued therapy, medication management, and groups.
