RECOVERY STARTS HERE

Inpatient Drug Rehab Centers, NJ

Although 16.5% of the United States population ages 12+ met the criteria for a substance use disorder in the past year in 2021, it’s said that 94% of those with an addiction don’t get treatment. There’s more than one kind of addiction treatment, and inpatient drug rehab is one of them.

Inpatient treatment, sometimes called residential treatment, is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a type of addiction or mental health treatment where you eat, sleep, and live at your treatment facility for the duration of your program. Although Prevail Recovery Center is an outpatient-only facility, we sometimes refer clients to inpatient drug rehab centers in New Jersey.

Entering inpatient treatment can be daunting, but it’s a life-changing experience for many. This page will review the benefits of inpatient treatment, what to expect at an inpatient treatment center, and ways to find an inpatient or residential drug rehab in New Jersey.

Benefits of Inpatient Treatment

First, why might someone choose to attend, or need to attend, inpatient treatment? For most people, supervision is the top benefit of being in an inpatient treatment program.

When you’re in an outpatient program, accessing illicit drugs, going to a liquor store, or engaging in other destructive behaviors outside of treatment hours, is easier. Substance use disorders are powerful, and some people need time away from the triggers and opportunities to use that may show up in their daily lives.

Furthermore, since you’ll live on-site while in an inpatient program, your living arrangements will be taken care of. You may have a roommate at your inpatient treatment center, or you may have your own room.

Inpatient programs usually last for 30-90 days, though some long-term residential drug rehabs have more extensive programs. This gives you time to immerse yourself in treatment activities and recovery.

What to Expect at an Inpatient Treatment Center

While no two treatment centers are exactly alike, there are consistencies and standard features you can almost always count on. Let’s talk about the admissions process, what to expect during treatment, and what things will look like when it’s time to end your inpatient treatment stay.

Admissions

The admissions process is relatively straightforward at most inpatient drug rehab centers in New Jersey. The admissions process helps your treatment team get an idea of your needs and what your treatment plan should entail. Usually, you’ll complete the following steps in order as you enter an inpatient treatment center:

  • Insurance verification: Your treatment center will ensure your insurance is accepted. If you don’t have health insurance, you’ll agree on another way to pay for treatment.
  • Complete an assessment: This assessment will look at your needs, typically including your history of substance abuse and other factors that affect your mental health.
  • Take a tour and meet your treatment team: You will get acquainted with staff, living quarters, and other features of your treatment center.
  • Get the details: Next, you’ll get the important details, such as your admission date, treatment rules, and anything else you need to know.

During

All inpatient drug rehab centers in New Jersey are unique. They may use specific approaches, have different beliefs and perspectives on addiction treatment, or have other features that set them apart. What matters most is choosing the right inpatient or residential drug rehab in New Jersey for you. With that in mind, here are some of the things your days in inpatient treatment may entail:

  • Individual therapy
  • Groups
  • Family therapy or visits
  • Recreation activities
  • Amenities
  • Medication management
  • Eating and living

After

In inpatient treatment, you’ll create what’s called an aftercare plan. That aftercare plan will describe the next steps you’ll take to protect your continued recovery post-treatment. Usually, aftercare involves attending non-inpatient services of some kind. These might include but aren’t limited to the following:

  • Therapy: Even if a person isn’t in a formal outpatient treatment program, they may work with a therapist for individual therapy or attend group therapy after inpatient treatment.
  • Medication management: If a person’s on or is considering medication, they may work with a psychiatrist or another prescriber for medication management after inpatient treatment.
  • Support groups: Support groups are widespread and accessible for those overcoming substance abuse and related concerns. They’re usually free of cost and can assist you in building community and staying focused on recovery.
  • Outpatient programs: Outpatient programs like those at Prevail Recovery Center can function as a step-down form of care for individuals who have recently experienced or are about to exit inpatient treatment.

The Role of Outpatient Care

Outpatient care can be an alternative to inpatient treatment when a person does not need or want to sleep on-site at their treatment center. For those who need or benefit from inpatient treatment for a period of time, however, outpatient care can also function as a person’s next step after completing an inpatient program. Here are the outpatient programs we offer and what they entail.

Detoxification

Detoxification or “detox” is designed to help people get off of drugs and alcohol safely with the support of trained medical professionals. Detox can be highly beneficial as a first step in treatment. The outpatient detox programs at our addiction treatment center in New Jersey help clients get sober while living off-site. Many clients find that outpatient detox works well for them. However, if you require inpatient detox, we can refer you to an inpatient detox program.

Partial hospitalization

Partial hospitalization programs (PHP) offer the highest level of care you can get for substance abuse and other mental health concerns without being in an inpatient program. On a typical day in PHP, you’ll spend the majority of your days at your treatment center but will return home at night to sleep. The time commitment required in PHP is much like that of a full-time job. Our partial hospitalization programs include a combination of multiple treatments and activities, including but not limited to regular groups, individual therapy sessions, family therapy options, and more.

Intensive outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are less intensive and time-consuming than PHP. Our IOP clients engage in a combination of group and individual therapy just like those in PHP, but the amount of therapy required for IOP means that you’ll be in treatment for fewer hours each week. IOP can be ideal for those who need a comprehensive addiction treatment team but cannot pursue PHP due to outside commitments. For example, work or school. Alternatively, some clients attend IOP following a higher level of care, whether that’s PHP or a program at one of the many inpatient drug rehab centers in New Jersey.

Outpatient

Other outpatient options generally require a very low time commitment and are frequently pursued by those who have completed a higher level of care. Clients often choose to enter continued outpatient care to continue accessing therapy and other treatments, have regular check-ins with staff, and get support from their community as they transition into their new, sober daily lives.
