What We Do

What is Sober Living?

Also called supportive housing, sober living is a term used to describe a living environment that is purposefully drug and alcohol-free. From the outside, sober living facilities look and feel very similar to apartments with standard rental agreements. However, sober living is designed specifically for those in recovery from addiction.

For many people, sober living has a positive impact on treatment and recovery. Largely, this is because sober living combines personal space, independence, and security, with the sense of community and support that comes with living among other sober individuals.

How New Jersey Sober Living Helps During and After Treatment

Sober living, especially when paired with adequate treatment, is shown in research to lead to a number of positive outcomes. At different points in your journey to recovery, you may find that New Jersey sober living fulfills a unique purpose or provides specific benefits. With that in mind, here are some of the ways sober living can support your recovery both during and after addiction treatment.

During treatment

The main benefit of residing in sober living during treatment is that, if you reside in sober living, you will be in a supportive environment close to your treatment center’s location. This makes commuting to outpatient care easier and gives you a 100% drug and alcohol-free space to stay outside of treatment hours, which is ideal for anyone experiencing substance abuse and can help you remain sober. Since we are an outpatient-only treatment facility, many people in our programs choose to reside in sober living facilities for the duration of treatment at the very least. That way, ensuring you’re at treatment on time each day is more effortless.

After treatment

Sober living is not just for those in substance abuse treatment. Many people either move to or continue residing in sober living facilities after receiving treatment for their addiction. The two biggest benefits of residing in sober living post-treatment are accountability and community. Since it is a designated drug and alcohol-free space, you are less likely to give into cravings or urges. You will be around a supportive community but will still experience the freedom and independence you would living on your own elsewhere. In many ways, it’s the best of both worlds. If you are in a treatment program but are ready to leave or are stepping down from a higher level of care to a lower level of care (for example, one may move from partial hospitalization to intensive outpatient), continuing to live in supportive housing can also give you a critical sense of consistency.

What We Do

Treatment Options at Prevail Recovery Center

If you are interested in treatment as well as sober living in New Jersey, you may wonder what options are available to you. Our treatment center is outpatient-only and is designed to give people access to world-class substance abuse treatment without staying in an inpatient facility. Here are the treatment options we have available at Prevail Recovery Center. If you aren’t sure which one is best for you but are interested in treatment, our staff members can help.

Detoxification

Getting off of drugs and alcohol can be uncomfortable and, in some cases, dangerous. Detox, also called detoxification, is designed to help you get off of substances safely and reduce discomfort caused by withdrawal symptoms with the help of medical and mental healthcare professionals. Often used as a precursor to another treatment program, our outpatient detox program is for clients who have less severe withdrawal symptoms and do not require inpatient detoxification services. Outpatient detox at Prevail Recovery Center may consist of multiple treatments, including regular monitoring, therapy, and medication management. Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is available at Prevail Recovery Center. Furthermore, if you are on a substance that requires tapering, we can help you through the process.

Partial hospitalization

Partial hospitalization programs (PHP) are the most intensive forms of addiction treatment you can get without entering an inpatient treatment program. On a typical day in PHP at Prevail Recovery Center, you will spend most of the day at your treatment facility but sleep at home, whether you choose to make our NJ sober living facilities your home or have other living arrangements. Due to the time commitment it requires, most people take a break from work or school while they’re in PHP. Our partial hospitalization programs involve a combination of different therapies and treatments, including but not limited to regular groups, medication management, family therapy, and individual therapy sessions.

Intensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are less intensive and time-consuming than PHP, but they still provide high-quality and comprehensive care. Just like those in PHP, our IOP clients engage in a combination of different treatments, including but not limited to regular groups and individual therapy. The difference is that the amount of therapy required for IOP means that you’ll be in treatment for fewer hours each week. IOP can be ideal for those who need a comprehensive addiction treatment team but cannot commit to PHP. For example, those who are employed or enrolled in college while attending treatment.

Outpatient

The other outpatient options at Prevail Recovery Center are primarily designed to help clients remain connected to their treatment team after finishing PHP or IOP and require the lowest possible time commitment. Our most common outpatient offerings include continued groups, individual therapy, and medication management.
