UMR can help you connect with a range of healthcare providers, therapists, doctors, and rehab centers. You will need an official diagnosis of substance abuse or alcohol use disorder from a doctor before you can qualify for rehab treatment. A doctor will usually sit down and ask about your history of substance abuse, the last time you used it, your history with rehab, and what you are looking for with rehab now. With UMR addiction treatment, you can get coverage for things like:
Detox
This might include medication-assisted detox, which, as aforementioned, may or may not be covered by your policy. For detox, you usually remain at a rehab facility or hospital for a few days.
Inpatient/Residential Rehab
This is a more comprehensive form of addiction recovery, lasting between 30 and 90 days. This is less likely to be covered by basic UMR plans. However, it is still worth investigating.
Outpatient Rehab
All tiers of insurance most commonly cover outpatient rehab. With outpatient rehab, you can undergo your detox followed by months of things like individual psychotherapy and medication management.
UMR health insurance companies are not required to deliver treatment for a set length of time. Instead, they suggest that you, as the patient, get a recommendation for UMR rehab based on your needs. So, you can’t use your insurance only to get coverage for rehab for one week or for one month.
Prescription Medications
Prescription medications to help you ease symptoms of withdrawal or to manage mental health conditions should always be covered to some degree, if not entirely, as part of your UMR rehab coverage.
Behavioral Therapy
Similarly, most UMR rehab coverage extends to behavioral therapies. Behavioral therapy can be used with inpatient or outpatient services. You might find individual therapy, group therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy, marriage or relationship therapy, and more at different facilities. However, what gets covered by your UMR rehab coverage is something to be discussed with a staff member at each facility.
