Luis Garcia is a primary therapist at Prevail Recovery Center. He is a proud double alumnus of
Florida International University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology and his master’s degree in professional counseling psychology.
Prior to working at Prevail, Luis spent upwards of ten years working in applied behavior analysis
both in the US and abroad, helping individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders of all ages and their families achieve a sense of unity and stability. Additionally, Luis acquired extensive
experience aiding adults with dual diagnoses while at the psychiatric stabilization unit of Aventura Hospital.
Â
Luis’s approach to substance abuse treatment treats addiction as both a disease and a symptom of something stemming from underlying cognitive and emotional conditions. He believes in treating the whole person rather than simply addressing the condition. His treatment takes an individualized cognitive-behavioral approach combining aspects of dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and values clarification.

With the mind as a light and heart as a compass, he believes that with the right aid anyone is capable of reaching their True North.
